Immoral?

Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace said yesterday that he believes homosexuality is immoral and that gays should not be allowed to serve openly in the military.

WASHINGTON – The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Monday he considers homosexuality to be immoral and the military should not condone it by allowing gay personnel to serve openly, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Marine Gen. Peter Pace likened homosexuality to adultery, which he said was also immoral, the newspaper reported on its Web site.

So much for supporting your troops, General. I’m sure the gay men and women currently serving were inspired by your opinions.

Just how tone-deaf is this? On the heels of the disclosures about Walter Reed, someone is making a pronouncement about immorality?

I’m with Aravosis:

No, I’d say “immoral” is letting our own injured and maimed soldiers sleep in their own urine when you all knew about it and didn’t give a damn. Immoral is lying to the American people in order to get us into a war. Immoral is sending hundreds of thousands of US soldiers into battle without the proper armor. Immoral is risking the lives of our soldiers by still not having a plan for victory or exit.

  1. Am I immoral or do I have a condition?

Prior to Peter Pace’s asinine immorality comments, I remember that in mid-November 2006 the Pentagon reclassified homosexuality as a condition, in the same grouping as bed-wetting, fear of flying, stammering or stuttering, dyslexia, sleepwalking, motion sickness, obesity and insect venom allergies!

  2. It will be interesting to see if the Pace thing dies down now that he’s “apologized” for disclosing his “personal” views.
